Salcombe Shepherd Huts

OUR ACCOMMODATION

Our Shepherd Huts are beautifully handcrafted and locally sourced.

The Sand Castle and The foxes Den:

Our first two huts are made by a guy called Ben. He is a true craftsman, which is reflected in the beauty and the quality of our huts. They are all built from wood sourced from sustainable Devon trees and have a very low carbon footprint. It was important to us that our huts would be eco-friendly and that we were able to support a local business. The huts feature solid wooden exposed beams, beautiful wooden windows, and a handcrafted mezzanine full double bed with a bespoke solid wooden staircase. This creates so much extra floor space and really changes and upgrades the whole shepherd hut experience, also removing the hassle of making your bed each night too.

The kitchen area has a bespoke fitted wooden work surface to complete the units encasing all the little luxuries that make for a comfortable stay: Hot water, a fridge, a kettle and toaster, two ring gas hob, and sink area, cupboards for storage, and basic kitchen utensils to enable self-catering for those who love to cook. There is a cute porthole window allowing plenty of light above the mezzanine floor and a quirky slot window below, making sure that wherever you are stood you get a great view and are flooded with light. The front of the Hut, over-looking the veranda, has two big double glazed doors opening out towards the stunning and exclusive view of the Salcombe Estuary. This is an ideal location for alfresco dining or simply sitting a relaxing with a cup of tea. On a beautiful hot sunny day enjoy a chilled glass of champagne on arrival or simply off load your luggage and venture out for one of the many activities the area has to offer. On the more British days that we have, snuggle up by the log burning stove (handmade by a local smithy) with a good read or simply to enjoy the peace.

The private outside space creates the feeling of personal, private space, complete with allocated parking. The huts are just a short walk away from our brand new amenity block. No matter how you spend your holiday, you'll come away with lifelong memories to share with your family and friends. SALCOMBE SHEPHERD HUTS

The Potting Shed and The Shippen:

Our two new huts have all the same little luxuries that the previous two huts have but with a few added extra’s!

These huts have been built by a brilliant company called Ashwood Shepherd Huts and are superbly crafted and designed. They have been designed with Families and slightly older clientele in mind. The reason behind the change was to provide 2 separate bunk beds so the kids can go up the stairs to bed and be separate from each other to provide a peaceful area for both to fall asleep. This also leaves the bigger King-size bed (at floor level) for the adults to retire to at a later time. They are also underfloor heated to that if you set the thermostat they will just maintain their temperature throughout your stay- with no lighting or the log burner unless you wish to’ cosy up’ by the fire!

The huts also have a washroom/ toilet room in the back of the hut which just means those annoying out of hours visits can be done in the comfort of your own hut without having to walk to the campsite facilities in the rain!

The bigger size of the new huts also means that you do not have to ‘Pack ‘ any beds away to utilise all of the living space. There is a separate sofa and kitchen area with dining table all ready to go as when needed, with the big double door leading out to the garden and outside dining area. These huts really do epitomise luxury glamping, relying only on the amenity block for the free hot showers in our new underfloor – heated facility. There is also a laundry facility coming into the new block soon for those who wish to stay longer or lead more active holidays where washing maybe essential requirement!

All of our huts have a lovely quality feel with a superb, luxurious finish to them and their fixtures and fittings. The linen used is superior quality with 600 thread count pure cotton bed linen and luxurious throws and blankets to snuggle up with through the winter months. This is most definitely Glamping and not Camping!!
